Adopt an Animal
In this section: dogs, cats, small animals and birds.
Home visits
Home visits are policy at this centre, for all potential dog, cat, rabbit and ferret adopters.
Once your home-visit is approved, every effort should be made to collect your pet within 24-48 hours.
Health, microchipping and insurance
Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens
Adoption fees for cats and dogs are to offset the following: housing the animal whilst in our care, veterinary examination, de-flea and worming, inoculation (Leukaemia vaccine is given to kittens only), spay or neuter and microchip. The estimated average financial outlay for the above basic veterinary procedures carried out at a private veterinary practice is £89 per cat and £158 per dog (based on medium size). Four weeks free insurance with Petplan is also included.
Rabbits
All rabbits are vaccinated against myxomatosis, and viral haemorrhagic disease. Like our cats and dogs, our bunnies are now microchipped, insured for 4 weeks and neutered, too. Please note we only adopt out our rabbits in pairs or to live with an existing rabbit unless the rabbit is to be kept indoors as a house-rabbit.
To the best of our knowledge, the animals we re-home are fit and healthy. Any veterinary fees incurred after adoption are the responsibility of the adopter and not the RSPCA.
Older animals
The branch has an elderly animal re-homing scheme:
- Adoption fee by negotiation
- Treatment at branch clinic for any pre-existing condition during the lifetime of the animal
- Insurance available for non-pre-existing conditions
Please speak to staff for full details (see contact information)
Cat collars
It is not branch policy to sell or use cat collars. Microchipping is the recommended alternative.
Re-publication
Owners of other animal welfare sites please note: like all the material on this site, the photos and descriptions of animals for rehoming are protected by copyright. Please do not advertise our animals on your own site, as this makes it very difficult to keep the information up to date. However, we welcome links to any of our pages, and will always consider a reciprocal link if you ask - just email webmaster@rspca-bradford.org.uk.
