Nothing but a Hound Dog

Are you a hound owner? Have you successfully trained a hound before? Or are you willing to learn about hounds and to take Bagel to training classes?

Please, help...

Bagel

Bagel

Hounds are pack dogs, but they can find what they need with either dog or a human family. Beagles and Bassett hounds are a prime example of how this is true but I am sure hound owners will be nodding and thinking, yes - if managed correctly.

In October 2007, Bagel came to stay with us. At 8 months old, changes in her family environment had forced her owners to hand her over for rehoming. She has now been in kennels for too long and at 13 months old, desperately needs a permanent home with people who understand her, preferably with another dog for company. She will not be suitable for a family who are out of the house for long regular periods. All our dogs are neutered and vaccinated, and rehomed to live inside as family pets.

Bagel is the result of a Beagle and Foxhound love affair. She is bigger than a Beagle but smaller than a Foxhound with a roughish medium length coat. She has travelled successfully in a car, has had some experience of children but has not lived with them but not experienced cats. She will walk on an 'Easywalk' harness, sit, stay and play with you with her toys. She is bright and full of energy, sometimes to the point of boisterousness, so she will need an active lifestyle. She wants to be with humans and also loves to be in the company of other dogs. She is learning how to behave with both. She still thinks she is a pup and will need understanding of the breed and a one to one bond in a home environment, if she is to be happy and her training is to progress.
