Bradford and District

How you can help the RSPCA

Volunteering

Bradford and District RSPCA is always on the look-out for volunteers. If you can spare a few hours a week, here are some of the ways you can help.

Fund-Raising

The Branch relies on a number of fund-raising activities, from collecting donations at local supermarkets to running a stall at our Fun Days and Open Days - and of course we need volunteers to work in the Society's shops in Bradford, Otley, Pudsey and Cleckheaton. If you would like to help with any of these, please write to Paula at the Animal Home.

Odd Jobs

We occasionally need help with work that needs a lot of hands, like putting up the marquees for our Fun Days and Open Days - and taking them all down again. Events like these are announced on our mailing list, which you can join online. Please note, though, apart from dog-walkers we're not looking for people to work with the animals - we have professionals for that!

Applications

If you would like to become a volunteer, please request an application form from Paula Newsome at the RSPCA, Mount Street, Bradford BD3 9SW.

All volunteers will need to provide two references, while dog-walkers will also be asked for evidence of up-to-date tetanus injections.

Giving money to the RSPCA

Donations

We are grateful for donations of any size. Many people help by bringing animal food, bedding or similar "consumables" to the Animal Home. If you prefer to support the Branch's work with cash, please consider becoming a Member or a Friend (contact us for details and an application form).

Sponsor a Pen

For only £100 a year, you can sponsor a cat or dog pen. The sponsorship includes a plaque above your pen door with your preferred inscription and regular updates and photographs of your pen's residents as they pass through the centre on their way to their new life.

At the end of the term, you will receive a summary of the pets you have helped to rehome throughout the year.

If you are interested in sponsoring a pen, please contact the Animal Home by ringing (01274) 723 063 or emailing info@rspca-bradford.org.uk.

Legacies

If you wish to leave money to the Bradford and District Branch in your will, please be sure to stipulate the RSPCA Bradford and District Branch, Mount Street, Bradford 3. The Bradford Branch is a Registered Charity in its own right, and receives no financial support from the national RSPCA. If you don't specify the Branch, your legacy will go to the national organisation.

That said, the national RSPCA has some useful guidance on leaving legacies to the Society.
